WE GET THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY AND ACHRISTMAS SPECIAL THIS YEAR AND THAT’S IT FOR LIKE A YEAR AND A HALF…

Even though I’m a Whovian and this information distresses me, I think I’m going to have to side with the Sherlock Fandom. Yes they have all of that. But we have Twenty-Six seasons of Classic!Who that have up to 40 episodes in the early seasons. 8 new series. A fuck ton of specials. A movie. A titanic load of books and a HUGE list of Audio Dramas that come out fairly quickly. Something like a couple hundred stories that’s THOUSANDS of HOURS of adventures.

I think we can afford to wait. Let those NuWhovians catch up to us.

i’m slightly worried what we’ll end up doing, though. i mean, we got put on hiatus for 18 months and did doctor in distress and i don’t know if the planet can take another product of our boredom.

See, here’s the thing. Those people might be creating a bad image for the Classic fans, but what about the New fans? I’ve not seen anyone reprimanded for continuing, years later, to demand Ten and Rose return, those people who bash Moffat and Smith and anyone involved with this new era, simply because it’s different. How about all the people who threatened or insulted me JUST for hating Rose (and not even tagging my hate)? Don’t THEY create a bad image?

My experience with the Classic Who fandom has been great. You don’t have to have seen every episode– I’m only through the first two Doctors– but it’s the fact that I’m TRYING to get through it all, that’s all they need. I maintain to this day that it is not elitism to ask that fans of a show watch the show. You just can’t be a Doctor Who fan having only seen New Who and not intending to watch Classic. You can be a diehard New Who fan, if you like. And to all those Newvians who insist that “well, I can say I’m a Doctor Who fan, because it’s all the same show!” Yes, yes it is the same show. So why haven’t you watched it?

Anyway, Classic fans may have a touch of pretentiousness, but with reason. The New Who fandom has MORE than its share of obnoxiousness and idiocy, so we’re even.
